ClipBird's features enable users to:
- Create sighting checklists using over thirty built-in checklists
- Create custom checklists using any built-in checklist as a starting point (template) or by starting with a blank list of species
- Select species using mouseclicks or keyboard
- Save checklists to their own computer for emailing to other users, or for future updates
- Enter brief comments for each species selected that will be included when the list is inserted into email, spreadsheet, etc.
- Paste checklists that automatically include a species count
- Copy and paste checklists in "Spreadsheet Mode"; when pasted, the species names and comments will be posted to separate columns in most spreadsheet applications
- A selected species can be made "bold-faced" by pressing a modifier key (Option on OS X, Alt on Windows) during selection -- when the list is later pasted into a document, those species will be listed in all caps.
- View species in either taxonomic or alphabetical order
- Check for updates to ClipBird automatically or manually using an option under the File menu.
